The Yoga of Relating
The Yoga of Relating is a group exercise where all participants agree to try and live a more authentic life by practicing being as open and honest as you are willing within the structure of the group. Participants agree to remain open to feedback from the others in the group about where they may be unaware of their patterns.
The group is set up with very little facilitation after the initial structure is put in place. Sharing is optional, however a community-type participation is most effective.
These groups can go for 1-2 hours or as long as many hours depending on the degree of presence within the group, and the involvement of the participants. The groups begin with a basic ‘settling in’ meditation. Everyone remains in stillness until it feels appropriate to begin, usually 10 to 20 minutes. It is encouraged that everyone share what they are feeling or “what is up” for them in the present moment. Sharing from the present moment reduces the story telling that some group therapies or communication groups participate in. A ‘story’ from the past may be necessary to summarize but staying present within the group is most effective for maintaining the energy and aliveness of the meeting.
Participating in a Yoga of Relating Group brings an aliveness to ones participation with life and with a bit of courage in the area of self-reflection along with the loving support of a community, individuals can find freedom from unconscious patterns that have been part of their emotional and mental structures for many years. With only a few sessions in The Yoga of Relating structure, most people find a new sense of clarity on the workings of their minds and an intuitive sense that emerges naturally when long held patterns are brought into awareness.
The Yoga of Relating not only helps individuals move into more freedom from limiting beliefs and patterns, it builds a community of honest, courageous, and caring individuals who are committed to living in truth. Participation in The Yoga of Relating Group practice also prepares one for the more in depth practices taught in the Yoga of the Mind Live Workshop.
